Today, we celebrated 10 years since Fatemeh packed up her car and moved from San Diego to the Bay Area. I’ve only known her since June 2008, but there are just a few people in my life who have made such an impression on me and have altered the course of my life in such dramatic fashion. Thusly and therefore, I joined the celebration at The Trappist, which she has called her alternate living room, and where she has taught me the wonder of sour beer and where we have spent many hours in conversation. Toward the end of the celebration, she ordered a bottle of La Roja, made by Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales in Michigan, and that led to this shot.
