My coworker, Sara, emailed me Sunday to let me know the figs on her backyard tree were ripe, and I was welcome to come get some. I adore fresh figs, but have never gotten them straight off the tree before…they were a heavenly treat. And this? This is part of why I adore living in California.

Genie – if you ever come visit me in TN in the summer, we can sit in between my fig trees and gorge ourselves. I had to plant fig trees so I could taste a fresh fig because you can’t buy them around here. So one got planted. And we’ve bought two more with more to be added next year.
