My friend Brenda and I met at Penelope’s for cocktails and a catch-up session. This tiny bar in downtown Oakland has a lovely, small menu of food and delicious, locally-sourced artisan cocktails.

    Erik, I think you’d like it. I had one of their regular, on-the-menu cocktails, and a guava cocktail made fresh that day with market ingredients — they always have specials, apparently, that draw on seasonal mixes.
