My friend Lily (of bloglily.com) picked me up at lunch today and we snuck over to Vik’s Chaat Corner in Berkeley for a delicious lunch. After lunch, we ducked into the market next to the restaurant, where Lily shopped for a variety of ingredients, including basmati rice. She was going to pick up a particular bag, when one of the women who worked there came up to both of us and first, asked me in a pointed manner what I was doing with my camera and, second, directed Lily to buy this type of basmati rice rather than the other, because it was better.

  1. Turns out it IS better — that is because it is “watered by the pure cold waters of the Himalayas” or something like that. xoxox

  2. Bloglily, I’m fascinated by the fact that the bag has a zipper. I’m going to have to go back and get me some of that stuff!
