In a last-minute change of events, I raced across the Bay to meet my friends Thom, Jen and Chris to catch the fireworks from the 37th floor of the downtown Hilton in San Francisco. Sadly, the room had nearly zero view of any of the official fireworks, but we got to see plenty of illegal fireworks going off around the city. At one point, I had my camera basically out the open window, and managed to press the shutter button at exactly the right time to catch this image. A little holiday magic? Indeed.
