Smash and grab

Most of the time, my car sits in a secure garage, and I rely on public transportation to get around the Bay Area. But I do drive around when need be, and even though I am religious about removing my stereo faceplate and keeping my car clear of anything other than expired parking meter receipts, I knew it was probably just a matter of time before I got hit by a car burglar. When I left band rehearsal this week, sure enough, I’d finally been hit.

It bookended a day that started with my feeling my very first California earthquake, a 4.3 trembler that hit near San Jose. I’d been here for two other earthquakes big enough for people to feel them, but hadn’t noticed either one.

  1. Oh, geez. Did they grab anything, though?

  2. Al_Pal, a little bit of change, and my owner’s manual. That’s all.

  3. Ugh, brutal. Leaving you paying hundreds to replace the window, I’ll bet. Ick!
That happened to my friend ALL the time when she lived in the Mission. ;(
