I went up to Sacramento on February 24 to see A.C. Newman, frontman of The New Pornographers, play with his backing band at Harlow’s in Sacramento. They had an incredible number of instruments on stage: acoustic, electric and bass guitars; a huge drumset; a violin; several horns and wind instruments; and two Roland keyboards. It was a whole lot of layered sound in an intimate space, and an incredible opportunity to see an indie music hero perform up close.
