On the evening of January 28, I attended a fundraiser for Tony Devencenzi, a bartender in the Bay Area who was hit by a car in December and suffered a serious head injury. He didn’t have health insurance at the time, and this was one in a series of fundraisers to help him and his family cover his medical costs. Many of the staff members at Levende East, where this fundraiser was held, wore helmets in honor of Tony, who has to wear a helmet to protect his head at all times while he heals. This is my friend Thom, who is a manager at Levende East, and Tony, hanging out at the fundraiser.
