The heart of the rock

My friend and former roommate, Susan, came into town today for a work-related trip that included time for a little bit of fun.

We lunched at Flora in Oakland, then, after a stop to drop her luggage at her downtown SF hotel, drove out to the edge of the continent to Land’s End. It was a hilarious and wonderful stop–I had encouraged her to put on a totally cute pair of heels before we had any idea where we would be going, and she had to hike around in them while we traversed sandy, gravelly paths. We laughed incredibly hard as the sun sank toward the horizon and the waves rolled in.

It wasn’t until I got home that I realized this picture included a heart in the rock out in the ocean. And because of how wonderful this afternoon was, how wonderful it is to have friends visit, and how very wonderful it is to be living right here, right now…this is my photo of the day.

  1. Beautiful

Loved having my morning coffee to this sweet story. My best friend lives about 1,000 miles away now and today is her birthday. I am thinking of her and I vicariously enjoying this.

    Thanks for sharing!

  2. Thanks so much for commenting — it was a great day, and I’m glad you enjoyed the story! :-)
